Meet The DOM Team!
We invite you to get to know us and we would love the opportunity to get to know you!
I am fortunate to have been born and raised in the Birmingham area. I graduated from Mountain Brook High School and then attended Auburn University where I finished my undergraduate studies with a degree in Zoology. I received my Doctorate of Dental Medicine at UAB in 2004.
Having a father who is a dentist exposed me to the dental field at a very early age. I spent many summers working in his office while growing up, which left me to my own pursuit of the dental profession. The best advice I was given during that time was to treat each patient as if he or she was a family member. Now with many years of private practice experience, that ethical standard has been ingrained in me. Our team excels in educating our patients about all their treatment options and then helping them to make a decision based on what is best for their particular situation. Our office has a family atmosphere and we love building lasting relationships with our patients.
The most rewarding part of dentistry for me is changing smiles. I love converting the patient who is too afraid to smile into a patient who can’t wait to smile. We have many options in dentistry now that can assist in a total smile transformation.
I met my wife in 2000 during my first year of dental school. She was a first year optometry student at the time. We were married in 2005 and are now proud parents of our daughter Cameron and our son Winn. We love to travel and spend time at the lake or the beach as often as we can. I enjoy golf, fishing, music and sports in my free time.
I grew up in rural Southwest Georgia with two brothers and two sisters. Upon graduating from Georgia Institute of Technology with an engineering degree, I moved to Birmingham and earned my Doctorate of Dental Medicine from the University Of Alabama School Of Dentistry. I have lived in Birmingham over twenty-five years.
Comprehensive oral health is my goal for all my patients. My philosophy of dentistry begins with healthy gums, the foundation of our teeth. I follow gum health with treatment of decay and tooth replacement. I stay informed of the newest and best procedures through consistent continuing education.
Hobbies and interests revolve around my family. My wife, Jacqueline and I have two school-aged children. My son and I enjoy hiking and camping with the Boy Scouts. Our family likes to spend weekends doing outdoor activities at our cabin in Northeast Alabama. We take travel adventures whenever possible.
Kim is an integral part of the Double Oak Mountain Family Dental practice and serves as the Clinic Manager for our team. She has an Associate Degree in Dental Assisting from Wallace State Community College and became a Registered Dental Hygienist two years later in 2000. She joined our team just three years later. Since starting here, Kim has enjoyed being involved with all the new technologies as they have developed and become available. She enjoys meeting new patients and the ones we have seen for years have become like family to her.
Kim’s interests outside of the practice include her active membership at Crossfit Gardendale, traveling and spending time with family and friends. She and her husband Jeremy have two young daughters named Kamdyn and Kendyll and Kim is a lifelong resident of Gardendale.
Jessica joined our DOMFD Team as a part-time hygienist in 2015, but has since stepped up to a full-time position as a dental hygienist. She also enjoys assisting our doctors when needed, having worked in the dental field over 13 years. Actually, Jessica started as a senior in her high school co-op program and worked her way into assisting.
She completed a formal dental assisting course through Penn Foster Career School in 2008 and from there, was accepted into the Alabama Dental Hygiene Program at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where she completed her coursework, was successful in her State Boards and received her professional license as a Registered Dental Hygienist. Her overall goal in this field is to encourage and inform patients about the importance of maintaining a healthy home care regimen to complement their professional visits, while also pointing out the adverse effects poor dental care may have on one’s overall health.
Jessica is married to Andrew, enjoying many busy activities with their children, Bryson, Brantlee, Brady, and Brooks.
Brittany has been working in the dental field since she was only 17 years old. Earning her dental hygiene license from the University of Alabama at Birmingham was a proud moment in 2001. She loves interacting with her patients and goes above and beyond to make them feel comfortable and assured while they receive their dental care. When patients have questions regarding their oral health, Brittany is pleased to educate them about all things dental-related.
She loves the outdoors and enjoys showing jumping horses and taking her mountain bike to the park with her two wonderful daughters, Saige and Brianna. Spending time with her fiancé, Donovan, usually involves riding dirt bikes and making plans for their future.
Growing up with a mother who is also a dental hygienist made oral hygiene a top priority in my life, so I guess you could say dentistry runs in my blood! I started my six-year dental assisting career right out of high school before completing the dental hygiene program at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2015. I love seeing the lives I am able to change with just one cleaning. Someone who hasn’t been to the dentist in years is one of the highlights of my position.
I love gardening and most anything outdoors. Spending time with family and friends occupies most of my time outside the office. If you get to know me, you’ll find I am a huge animal lover, as evidenced by my fur babies. My two German shepherds are Ghost and Leo, while my two cats are Jinx and Sassy.
Taylor is one of our newer additions to Double Oak Mountain Family Dentistry. She began her dental career in 2013 when she completed and received her certification for assisting through the Brookwood dental assisting program. With her love for assisting, she decided to take things to the next level and go to the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Here she received her license as a registered dental hygienist in 2019! Becoming a dental hygienist has been Taylor’s dream since she was a freshman in high school. She loves meeting new people and her passion to help her patients and care for their oral health is a top priority when they are seated in her chair. Her goal as a hygienist is to create a relaxing environment which will have people coming back and referring others, too!
In her spare time, you will find Taylor with friends or outdoors with her husband Caleb, and their two dogs, Moose and Tilly.
Merry is our Business Office Manager at Double Oak Mountain Family Dentistry. Originally from Pennsylvania, she earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in French Education from the University of South Florida. Her experience in practice management and insurance lends itself well to her responsibilities with our DOMFD Team. You will see her at our Front Desk where she monitors the pulse of our practice. Her enthusiasm in seeing new patients is only surpassed by her surprise at how our pediatric patients are now graduating college! She has been with us since our inception.
Merry and her husband Rick have lived in the area since 1999. Their daughter Liz and her husband Andrew are close by in Tuscaloosa. Activities also include their two grandsons, Jake and Austin, especially with their annual visit “down the shore.”
Tonya wears many feathers in her cap at Double Oak Mountain Family Dentistry. She began with us in 2009, after completing her certification in Dental Assisting from The Career Training Institute. That same year she also earned an Applied Science Associate Degree from Jefferson State Community College as a Medical Support Specialist. After three years as a Dental Assistant, Tonya also undertook the role of Patient Account Coordinator. Here she is a smiling face at our Front Desk where she loves greeting patients, coordinating care and explaining dental insurance benefits.
Although quite busy, as she’s the first to offer to help in the operatory as needed or with most any task at hand, she is even busier at home with her toddler son, Brantley. They love to spend time at the lake with family and friends.
Alecia is our Schedule Coordinator and is usually the first to greet you at Double Oak Mountain Family Dentistry. She has been with us since 2008. Growing up in Fultondale, she is native to our area. Earning a degree in Business Management from Jefferson State Community College, Alecia brings with her valuable work experience which shows in her outgoing personality.
Alecia and her husband Ryan were married in 2008 and now are proud parents of a son Rylee and a daughter Rayna. Alecia’s hobbies revolve around family and friends. She loves to cheer with Rayna at Rylee’s soccer and baseball games, or give her a holiday and she will be quick to coordinate a party atmosphere.
Susan joins our Double Oak Mountain Family Dentistry Team with over 26 years’ experience in dentistry. Her career began as a dental assistant and enjoyed educating patients on oral healthcare. In 1996 she completed the Alabama Dental Health Practitioner program and received her license to practice dental hygiene. From the operatory to the front desk, Susan polished her skills and was then promoted to practice manager, where her clinical knowledge, insurance acumen and people skills prove valuable to both staff and patients alike.
Outside of office hours, Susan enjoys spending time with family and friends. The song “Sisters” has special meaning for her, so when you visit our office, be sure to ask!

However, she joined us full-time in 2017. An asset to our team, she is a caring Dental Assistant who has a gift for calming patients and putting them at ease during their visits. She prides herself on encouraging them to schedule necessary dental treatment to improve their overall health and reap the benefits of a confident smile.
As the most newlywed of our team, Paige recently married and is a proud United States Air Force wife. She and her husband have three children. They all stay busy with family between ball practice, games and gymnastics.
